The purpose of the grants is to enable students to carry out academic activities during the second semester of 2015 in one of the Chilean universities participating in the agreement with UC Temuco. A list of these universities can be found in Annex 1 on this page.

The size of the grants available to all students will vary according to the following finance options:

• Student Mobility Grants, Chilean Chapter of Catholic Universities

This grant provides a one-off payment of up to CLP1,200,000. A maximum of 5 grants of this type are available.

• National Student Mobility Grants for Students on a Teaching Programme

This grant provides a one-off payment of up to CLP1,200,000. A maximum of 20 grants of this type are available.

The grants are compatible with other forms of finance which the student beneficiary may be able to obtain. It is the sole responsibility of the student to select the destination university and the course they will take. The DGE will support the students in this, however they must also obtain the consent of the relevant Head of Department.

The call for entries for “Becas Movilidad Estudiantil, Universidad Católica de Temuco 2015” is aimed at UC Temuco undergraduate students who have achieved satisfactory marks during the second year of their study programme.

• Be a UC Temuco student (fees paid up to date, able to present certificate) and to have satisfactorily passed all of the second year of the study programme.
• Have an average grade equal to or higher than 5.0 (five point zero) or be within the highest 10% of marks achieved by the students at that level.
• Be up to date with the contractual economic and administrative requirements of the university and of the university library.
• Not have any bad records or disciplinary measures taken by UC Temuco.

Students who meet the requirements of item III of this text should present the following documentation:

• Certificado de concentración de notas (grade certificate)
• Application form (Annex 2 on this page)
• Letter explaining motivation for application
• Letter of recommendation from Head of Department

The documentation should be submitted in a closed envelope to the Secretary of the DGE, located on the second floor of the CAEP building on the San Francisco Campus.

The students shortlisted for the Grants should undertake a psychological evaluation in order to validate their eligibility. This evaluation will be carried out by area specialists from the DGE team.

The call for entries for “Becas Movilidad Estudiantil, Universidad Católica de Temuco 2015” will be sent via internal email to all UC Temuco students and the information will also be sent to Deans, Heads of Department and Student Union Presidents. The information will also be available from the university’s website: www.uctemuco.cl

The application deadline is 5pm on Friday 27th March, 2015.

A committee put together by the DGE, the Student Mobility Programme and the Curricular Standardisation Achievement and Teacher Training Performance Agreements will select the grant recipients. The results of the call for entries will be published on Friday 10th April, 2015. This committee will be required to comply with transparency and equality criteria in the awarding of grants, and ensure that allocations are made to students of sufficient merit who meet all of the specified requirements. It will confirm that those selected are in a good personal and financial state to travel and complete their studies in Chile.

The grant recipient must sign a contract (Annex 3 on this page) to identify them as a Mobility UC Temuco grant recipient and which also defines the destination, course duration and the type of benefit, along with the figures and financial source. The contract also serves as a record of the academic activities undertaken in the destination institution, and should be presented within two weeks of the student’s return. Details of the responsibilities and duties of the grant recipient:

• Meet the formal, academic (pass 70% of the course) and communal living requirements set out by the destination university.
• Behave appropriately and respectfully towards the culture of the destination location.
• Inform UC Temuco, whether through the Student Mobility coordinator or the Head of Department, of any problems encountered during time spent at the destination institution, whether academic or otherwise.
• Provide the university with all the required information regarding the activities which will be undertaken during the stay, as per the contract.
• At the moment of departure, do not leave any processes incomplete, for example enrolment, renewal of financial support, etc. If this is not possible, inform the Student Mobility coordinator or the Head of Department so that administrative problems do not arise during absence.
• Participate in activities as required by UC Temuco in order to promote Student Mobility among its students, at least during the year following return to the institution.
• Carry out the stay during the second semester of 2015.
